Turmeric Essential Oil comes from Curcuma Longa, or Turmeric, and is probably best known for its addition to curry dishes but it actually has quite a history of medicinal use. It is not really surprising that it has this history seeing as it has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory properties as well as antioxidants. There is also some belief that it may help in the fight against Cancer. It can help with arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory properties, similar with joint pain.
Turmeric is a plant that belongs the the Ginger family that grows to around 80 – 100 cm. And where does the colour come from? The root is used to create the essential oil (through steam or CO2 distillation) and the root is a bright orange colour.
