Shea butter

Who has not heard of Shea Butter? It can be found in many a cream and product on our supermarket shelves. But do you know where it comes from? It is actually from the nut of the Shea Tree.

The Butter is extracted from the nut of the Karite or Shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa (formally Butyrospermum parkii)) and often used in very similar ways to Coconut Oil.

It has many moisturising / nourishing properties so it is often used in creams, lotions, ointments and for the skin or for the hair.

We love Shea Butter for our lip balms because who doesn’t love a tried and tested moisturising ingredient and.. it does what it says on the tin so to speak!
