Turmeric essential oil
Turmeric Essential Oil comes from Curcuma Longa, or Turmeric, and is probably best known for its addition to curry dishes but it actually has quite a history of medicinal use. It is not really surprising that it has this history seeing as it has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory properties as well as antioxidants. There is also some belief that it may help in the fight against more serious medical conditions but we’ll leave that to the medical profession. It can help with arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory properties, similar with joint pain.
Turmeric is a plant that belongs the the Ginger family that grows to around 80 – 100 cm. And where does the colour come from? The root is used to create the essential oil (through steam or CO2 distillation) and the root is a bright orange colour.
