Lanolin

Lanolin is naturally produced by sheep to helping them waterproof their wool.

The name itself is of Latin origin roughly meaning “wool oil”. It can represent up to 25% of the weight of freshly shorn wool.

The lanolin itself is obtained during the washing process using hot water and then goes through various cleaning and refining operations.

We use Lanolin in our Leather Balsam to help create a temporary waterproof layer.
